Dries Mertens scored a sublime hat-trick as Napoli thrashed Empoli at the Stadio San Paolo. Lorenzo Insigne opened the scoring before Mertens got his first of the night with a low strike from outside the box. Francesco Caputo did give Empoli hope on the hour mark to make it 2-1, but Mertens scored a beautiful goal to restore Napoli's two goal lead. Arkadiusz Milik and Mertens both then scored in stoppage time to wrap up the victory.
